5,209,594 moments of doubt

And I crawled out of the darkness
clutching your heart in my fist
sunlight burning my eyes
bitter tears cutting the dirt
against my cheeks
The visions you’d provided
changed everything
I was reborn, reformed, recreated
a new being capable of light
Why cast the world down?
when I had a place in the sun
but as I crept closer to the light
the iris drew closed
I fought, but knew
there was no reaching the surface
Not without blood
the familiar road,
a demon on my back,
my cyanide teeth bared
The pupils are black.

We’ll make it someday
for we don’t,
everything burns.
